About us

Our team at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center focuses on the design of behavior change interventions to help people stop using tobacco.

Our mission is to help people get closer to the life they want to live by overcoming barriers that get in the way, including those that get in the way of quitting tobacco use.

Jaimee Heffner, PhD, is the Director of the Tobacco-Related Health Disparities (TREHD) Research Group and an Associate Professor in the Cancer Prevention Program, Division of Public Health Sciences at Fred Hutch. Dr. Heffner's expertise is in tobacco cessation interventions. Over the past 15 years, she has served as a principal investigator, co-investigator, or as a consultant on over 20 smoking cessation trials funded by National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Heffner received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in addictions treatment and research at the University of Cincinnati.
